Welcome if you have recently joined one of our Do Fitness classes. Regardless of which class you have joined, we do work to improve and maintain good balance. I became very aware of the importance of this when I had a major Multiple Sclerosis relapse, which affected my balance, especially on my left side. Later on, the impact of hip replacement surgery on my left side meant I had to do more work on my balance. Balance is very sensitive and can be affected if you are tired or not feeling well. Here is some useful information to help yourself.

Having good balance is a major consideration if you have Osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is where bones become fragile or brittle, typically as we age and due to hormonal changes. Sometimes people have it, and they are unaware until they have a minor fall and break a wrist or a hip. The Royal Osteoporosis Society have a campaign called the Great British Bone Check, which is a simple quiz to gauge your risk of Osteoporosis. It is really useful to do and you get a result emailed to you straight away. ( Thank you Lesley B. for the information.)
