…and the rehab begins

Hello,
It is 8 days post hip replacement operation.  The rehab actually started the same day as your operation once the spinal anaesthetic had worn off. Physios explain the exercises which you do in bed and standing. You are given a diary to fill in and are expected to do them 3x daily. All the exercises are essentially Pilates! You are on anti-coagulants for a month after surgery to avoid thrombosis. which is another reason to keep moving. I have been able to go on short walks 3x daily too – increasing the distance each day. Rest is also important tooWhat I realised was how important keeping strong is as I was trying to lift myself onto a bedpan (day 1) or lift myself out of bed using my arms. Keep strong everyone.
Many thanks for the lovely cards and flowers that have been arriving. I feel really spoilt.
