| Hello, I gave demonstrations of chair-based exercise yesterday at a local community event. Chair-based is great because everyone can join in, so it is very inclusive. It was great to get everyone ‘dancing’ in the chair to fun music. Dance and movement to music is so good for us as Angela Rippon spoke about recently. Week beginning 31 March – sleep quality
Hello,
As the clocks have gone forward, and you have effectively lost an hour of sleep, I thought talking about sleep would be appropriate this week. Sleep quality can decrease because of stress or hormonal changes (perimenopause and menopause).
Regular exercise can really improve sleep quality. Choose intense exercise (eg HIIT or Zumba) earlier in the day and calming exercise (eg Pilates) later in the day.

We really underestimate the importance of relaxation. The world we live in is rush, rush and a constant bombardment of information and news. There are many benefits to being able to relax deeply. Relaxing is important for both mental and physical health. Relaxation slows your heart rate, relieves tension in the muscles, reduces blood pressure and lowers the production of stress hormones.
