We just have one more week of classes before our summer holiday break. I am not too optimistic about getting a suntan though when we go to Northumberland.

I have been listening to a fascinating book called Why We Sleep – I listen at bedtime when I am going to sleep. It talks about the health benefits to the body and the brain from getting the right amount of sleep and how sleep deprivation can harm. Here is a summary:

Gosh – my Nordic Walkers got caught in the downpour yesterday! The walk started in lovely warm sunshine walking through lush green fields. Suddenly there was torrential rain. Once home and showered though we felt great! Here are the benefits of walking in the rain

which gives great health tips and ideas to look after ourselves. You can listen to any of the broadcasts here:

Trying to fit exercise into our day can be challenging especially if you are working full time. I know for some people a Zoom Pilates class might be a lot more convenient. Every Tuesday except first Tuesday of the Month. Classes can be booked on Gymcatch.

Happy new month! As a family we are starting to look forward to our summer holiday in Northumberland. We haven’t been to the area before so looking forward to seeing new places. There will be no Do Fitness classes from Monday 31 July until classes start again Monday 14 August.

Exercise and heat
It looks like the weather has cooled down now so it will be a more comfortable temperature to exercise again. Our classes change a bit during the high temperatures with more breaks and more reminders to keep hydrated. How to exercise safely in the heat (bupa.co.uk)
Starter Circuits Fridays 1.15pm and Nordic Walking Wellbeing Thursdays 3.30pm stopping for summer
We will look at starting these again at the end of the summer. Lots of other options on the timetable for the time being for you to choose from.

Hello, Often you will see people doing slightly different things in class. This is particularly obvious in Pilates where I will give people different options depending on how long they have been coming or whether or not they have a certain health condition or injury. Walk from Burscough to Leyland 2 July There are still places available on the coach for the Leyland Town Team charity walk. Meeting at ASDA, Hough Lane at 9.15am, ready for the coach to leave at 9.30am. Sponsor forms are available from Atkinsons Jewellers, Paces and Laces – Children’s Shoe Shop and The Market Ale House. It is a minimum of £5 per person, raised by sponsorship or just on day. The money raised is for the Christmas Light Switch on in November as we try and make it bigger and better every year and can’t do this without your support! If you wish to join us and haven’t already, please email Leylandtownteam@gmail.com for a form so we can include you in the numbers. It is a 13 mile walk, but don’t worry, there are plenty of refreshment breaks along the way – Dogs are welcome on the coach. Thank you all again for all your support so far this year with the events held.
