Week beginning 12 June

Hello,

I was listening to Saturday Live (BBC Radio 4 – Saturday Live, Sheila Hancock, Vogue Williams, Fran Scott, Ben Bailey Smith) yesterday and Sheila Hancock was one of the guests. She was talking about keeping fit and how she finds weight training really beneficial- she is 90! She said:
“I feel so strong now. Lifting weights has restored muscle that had gone. My bicep is back now. My lower arms are strong and I can carry my luggage at the airport”
As we age we need to do more resistance strength training which we do in class with weights or resistance bands or loops. You will quickly feel the difference.




Leyland Festival 17 June (no Nordic Walking group that day.)
Free entry to Leyland Festival. I will be having my information stand again so please come and say hello. Lots of things on like a Samba band and a  Bollywood Dance group.

Starter Circuits Friday 1.15pm stopping for summer
We will start this again at the end of the summer. Lots of other options on the timetable for the time being for you to chose from.

Friday evening (Nordic) Walks
Friday evening walks have started again. People can come along with or without nordic walking poles to make the most of the summer evenings. We will explore places like White Coppice and Brinscall. Road works around Prospect House 
There ae still road works on Balcarres Road. Allow a little bit more time to get to class.

Pilates on Zoom Tuesdays 7pm (apart from first Tuesday of the month)
Trying to fit exercise into our day can be challenging especially if you are working full time. I know for some people a Zoom Pilates class might be a lot more convenient. Every Tuesday except first Tuesday of the Month. Classes can be booked on Gymcatch.

Stamps
Christine T. is still collecting used stamps for RNIB to help raise funds for people who are affected by sight loss. If you bring them into class I will forward them to her. RNIB – See differently   Thank you Christine for doing this and thank you for everyone who has brought stamps into class!
