Hello, Just a quick ‘hello’ to say that I am waiting for an update from my insurers to find out if we can resume indoor face to face classes. There has been a lot of confusion and coming out of lock down this time has different regulations from last time. The government’s website states that even though gyms can open we can’t have indoor exercise classes including dance and fitness. My insurers Fitpro are going to let us know on Monday if they have negotiated anything different for Covid secure indoor activities like we had before lockdown 2.
However there is some good news – we can resume outdoor exercise so Nordic Walking (Covid secure) is permitted. My Nordic Walkers will be pleased to see the conservatory has been repaired on Worden Park!
Week off I am going to take a week off from teaching Do Fitness Zoom classes so there are no classes week beginning 30 November. I will email you mid-week to let you know what is happening the following week.

I hope you are all doing ok. In theory we have only another 10 days of Lockdown 2. As yet we don’t know the details of what coming out of lockdown means. Does it mean we can have Covid secure indoor face to face classes straight away again? We shall see. I will keep you posted. There seems to be a more optimistic tone in the media about the new vaccinations and talk of life coming back to normal sometime in the new year. Again we shall see.
In the meantime we have Zoom classes next week – just mornings and evenings. There will be no classes week beginning 30 November – I will need some time to process and put in place the guidelines for coming out of lockdown.

It is day 11 of Lockdown 2 and more people have been joining me on Zoom which is great. It has been a learning curve for us all! Hopefully you have been getting out for walks either with an exercise Buddy or solo. I have enjoyed early morning walks below- when I have almost had Worden Park to myself.
First Aid Training and Defibrillators or AEDs As an instructor I have to update my First Aid at Work training every couple years so I did that last week ‘Covid Securely’. Making the most of the lockdown! The course was excellent with a local training company called Centaur Training Services. Amongst other things we were trained in CPR and about Defibrillators or AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator). We have one at both venues we were using before lock down. Leyland Methodist Church Hall -indoors at the downstairs entrance and at St Ambrose Church Hall- out side the entrance door. As you are out and about look around just make a note if you see one – you never know when it might be needed. If a defibrillator is used within 3-5 minutes of cardiac arrest, survival rates jump from 6 per cent to 74 per cent. The figures back up the fact that they make a huge difference. In fact, alongside effective CPR, they are the only effective treatment for a person who has suffered cardiac arrest. Good morning So it is day 4 of Lockdown 2 and I can see from Facebook that many people are making the most of getting outdoors! That is great for mind and body. Remember you can go out to exercise with one other person so it could even be a bit sociable. I have been enjoying early morning walks in Worden Park. My favourite tree above- I remember going there with my boys Mano and Yianni when they were little – they thought it was a magic tree.
A class member said that it will be the shortest day a few weeks after Lockdown 2 ends- so we will have got most of the dark days over with! If you do start to feel low try taking D3 as the government now recommends it in the winter months.
All classes will be on Zoom until the end of Lockdown – look forward to seeing you there.

Hello, I am afraid due to the Prime Minister’s announcement last night everything is changing again. Sorry to be bringing bad news but we are all in this together and I hope we can keep as many things going on-line as we possible. We were just getting into a great routine with our classes however now we must stop everything face to face for 1 month- that includes Nordic Walking. I will try to replicate the indoor timetable on Zoom. Hello I love sending this email newsletter out to you on a Sunday morning with the Do Fitness Timetable for the coming week. It gives me a feeling of security in these up and down times. This weekend I am on the other side of Zoom doing a fabulous course called Ability Not Disability which gives instructors a toolkit for teaching class members with ALN- Additional Learning Needs (SEN). It has been really interesting as over the years I have had class members with ALN attending my general classes or ALN classes. I might be a bit tired by Monday though!
How lucky were we yesterday – no rain for our Saturday morning Nordic Walk but it rained for the rest of the day!
Resistance Bands in Pilates I would love to start using resistance bands again in Pilates. They are a fabulous bit of kit for building muscle strength and increasing bone density. Obviously I am not allowed to lend them out anymore as we are not allowed to share equipment. If you have one please start bringing it to class. I will order new ones to supply in class if you don’t have one.
Next Nordic Walking Training The next technique course will be Friday 30 October 12-2pm on Worden Park. Book through https://gymcatch.com/
Nordic Walkers – Do you want a Thursday ‘before work’ walk? I am just asking if anyone would like a ‘before work’ walk on Thursday mornings? Probably about 7.15am to finish by 8.15am to avoid traffic. If you would then please send me a quick message so I can gauge interest. It will be a regular walk covering up to 3 miles at a reasonable pace in Leyland or Buckshaw Village
Zoom classes through Gymcatch Zoom classes are going to be a part of the future for now. They are really useful for people who are shielding or self isolating. They are also very convenient cutting down for travelling to and from a venue. Also we don’t know what is round the corner in terms of face to face classes. As you know there are new regulations and changes coming out all the time in response to Covid cases. On Fridays now you can book on a Zoom class through Gymcatch 9.30am Zumba 10.30am Pilates.

Face to face classes and procedures to be COVID secure for you to follow If you have been in contact with someone for more than 15 minutes, without a face mask and within 2 meters of them who then tests positive for Corona virus DO NOT COME TO CLASS FOR 14 DAYS. This applies whether you have symptoms or not. Here are your guidelines for a safe session: Please book and pay on-line to come https://gymcatch.com/ Do not enter the building until 2 minutes before class start times and leave promptly. Please enter the building through the bottom door and leave through the top the Methodist Church Hall and in through the main entrance and out through the fire exit at St Ambrose Church Hall. Please bring your own mat and band for Pilates Masks are not encouraged during your exercise session so can be removed once you are ready to start the class. They can be worn entering and leaving the building. Please maintain your 2 meters distance at all times. Leave as soon as the class is finished so there is no cross over between groups. Please hand sanitize before entering the building and use the hand sanitizers in the building and hand sanitize on leaving. DO NOT COME TO THE SESSION IF YOU HAVE A HIGH TEMPERATURE, A COUGH OR A LOSS OR CHANGE IN YOUR NORMAL SENSE OR TASTE OR SMELL
